Roja Shams is of Swedish and Persian descent, born in Iran in 1981.
Growing up in Northern Sweden with its mystic wilderness and dark forests, an early love was born for Nature, this Planet and the Animals that inhabit it. These are returning subjects and a constant source of inspiration.
The underlying themes in her artwork deal with the expression of emotion and energy, the fragility of life and the consciousness in and around all living things amongst us.
Her work can often be described as abstract expressionism or non-objective and her artwork is created with a desire to bring awareness to environmental matters and to procreate reflection around the urgency to take action for saving this planet.
Roja currently lives and works between Stockholm and Bali.
