Roja Shams is a contemporary artist of Swedish and Persian descent. The underlying themes in her artwork deal with the expression of emotion and energy and her imaginative style blends together elements of surrealism, abstraction, and figuration.

 

Her artwork is often influenced by the mysteries of consciousness, exploring the integration of Eastern spiritual traditions and Western scientific principles. She incorporates inspiration from the five natural elements as well as plants, animals, and the cosmos into her work. 

 

As an artist Roja draws inspiration from her own life experiences. After attending art school in Sweden, her lust for adventure led her to the Indian Himalayas where she studied the ancient and vast science of Yoga. This experience sparked her creative vision, deeply inspired by the power of consciousness.  Each piece is a visual expression of the artist's own journey of self-discovery and introspection and her work explores the complexities of the human mind and spirit.
